Some advice/suggestions needed!

Recommended Posts

Hi all! So I will be traveling (by car) to get my surgery done (I'm getting SIPS a modified version of the switch) and I'm driving 4 hours. Im a little worried mostly about gas pains and not being able to pull over often to walk them out. Are their any comfort measures anyone could suggest it'd be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance:)

definitely plan to stop at least once during that 4 hr car ride home to stretch your legs a bit (I hope you have someone to drive you, most hospitals won't release you to drive yourself home). I had a little over an hour car ride home and braced a pillow against my abdomen. The slight pressure helped with any bumpy rough Patches of road

I live about 3 hours drive from the hospital where my RNY was performed. I do not remember any extreme discomfort on the way home.

I live 2 hours from home and of course my hubby drove me home after we stayed in a Hotel for 6 days. This was a requirement from my Surgeon. It wasn't that bad but I would suggest making sure to take your pain meds before. Good Luck

I had to take a business trip about 10 days post surgery and the PA told me to stop at least once every hour and walk around for a while. She said it is because surgery patients have an increased risk of blood clots for about 30 days and need to keep the blood circulating.

Yeah my manual says to walk at least 5 min every hour so I think I'm going to still do that on the drive back, I'd rather take forever getting home than have clots lol
