The Sweet-eaters

Recommended Posts

Yeah, I admit it...I'm a huge sweets junkie. Fortunately, I really only have one sweet I desperately enjoy- ICE CREAM!!!

I've tried not to indulge, but when you live a hopskipjump away from the World's Bestest Creamery EVAH, it's nearly impossible.

So after angsting about it, I came to this conclusion/rationalization: Life with the band has required so many food sacrifices already (lobster, shrimp, chicken breasts, cake, apples, raw carrots, etc, etc, yadda yadda...) that I've decided I'm NOT going to sacrifice ice cream. I just won't. I love it to much, and it makes me happy. If it means I have to do extra yoga or treadmilling to compensate, fine. Bring it on, and hold the sprinkles! ;-)

Whoever mentioned donuts...wow. Do I miss those like whoa.

I can eat anything if I want to right now.. this revision needs to happen ASAP lol.

Girls at work bring in donuts a couple times a week, and I so love donuts.. but I don't go to the break room on the days they bring them in, otherwise I won't be able to control myself.

I've been donut free since March 2007!

I really think there are enough low calorie sweet things to get us by. There are the 100 calorie packs and Quaker has a pretty good little 90 calorie chocolate thingy. Now there are some people who would eat more than one pack, but I hate grocery shopping enough that I tell myself if I eat more than one pack, I won't have one for tomorrow night. It's evenings when I crave sweets.

They are so pretty, too!! Sigh........ Ok I gotta get a hold on myself. Just think I will look so much better when I loose the donuts around my waist....and legs....and arms....and neck. Ok I'm better now!

My 13 yr old daughter had a slumber party this weekend and I bought a dozen and a half of those pretty little things! They are evil! I think they were lying in their box taughting me! I ignored them though and my double chin thanks me!

The band didn't stop the cravings I did. I was so ready for the weight loss and to finally be successful (losing ), I followed every detail my Dr told me to, to the letter. No white sugar, bread, rice, Pasta, potatoes or soda. The band will not stop sweets and all the things that are "bad" for you from going down HONESTLY the things we need the least are easiest to eat. I wish someone had told me before I still would have gotten the band because I "know" it is the best & safest way to go but I would have been forewarned. If you really are ready to lose the weight and committed you can do it and be successful. I have been and I'm proud to say the lap-band has been a wonderful tool. It can't work by itself but alot of prayer and commitment on your part will absolutely get you the results you are seeking. I have lost 121lbs. to date and couldn't be healthier. (My happiness comes from within.) If you know that you can and will do it!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
