7 days post open and back at work, although not 100% by any means. It took me 3 hours to complete my morning Protein Shake. Seems like as soon as I am finished, it is time to start on a snack or next shake. This will take some getting used to, but I am up for the challenge.

On another note, I woke a few times during the night with a spasm on the internal side of my incision. I am presuming that was my actual stomach spazzing. Has anyone experienced this?

Thanks for your feedback.

At first, until about a couple months out, you feel like you're either eating or drinking. I felt like that was my full time job.

You're going to feel some weird sensation as you heal up. Sometimes it feels like pulling or spasms. Strange, but nothing to worry about.

Was anyone else told by their NUT and/or Surgeon, that if it takes you longer than 30 minutes to finish your meal, just stop. Put it away and then continue it for your next meal a couple of hours late.

I was told that if after 30 minutes I still have half a Protein shake left... stop drinking and put it in the fridge. I can finish the other half during the next meal.

I'm assuming the reason behind this is to break away from the "grazing" habit.

I was told this once I got to purees and solids. But not with the shakes since that's really just drinking and that first week or two it is a full time job getting fluids in - i basically never stopped sipping during those two weeks.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
