Torressl1234 6 Posted December 12, 2016 I got my gastric bypass on 9/20 and since then I have battled a stricture and ulcer. After multiple dilations I am only getting sick maybe once a week now. However, after months of not being able to eat, I feel like I can eat too much now. I can eat almost a cup of food now at one sitting and not even be full. I know that eventually that's the goal but isn't this like years out?? I'm afraid I've stretched my pouch beyond repair. Can you really reset your pouch? Please help any advice is appreciated. Josterme 1 Posted December 12, 2016 You should always weigh your food, I'm 3 months post op and i can eat 6 oz of soft food in 1 setting and only 4 oz of solid food. Take care of your stomach. Sent from my SM-N920V using the BariatricPal App
PrinceVanHalen 97 Posted December 12, 2016 It's really all depending on what you are having. If it's solid food like chicken, that's not really all that much. If it's something soft like Soup or chili, that's really nothing at all and is normal. Think about what we use to eat before surgery. What we're eating now is near starvation to a normal person. As for your question, yes you can reset it. You basically start over from the beginning doing liquids and soft foods. Very limited for a few weeks. minle360 6 Posted December 12, 2016 Sorry to hear about everything you went through. Sucks to need another surgery... I went through it for something else. When I was first post-op, I had no appetite. I breezed through Clear Liquids, liquids, and purees. At first, I couldn't finish soft foods either. I'm still on soft foods (see the doc and nutritionist on 12/20 and will probably advance then) and suddenly my appetite is roaring. I also weigh my foods. I was eating 2 ounces of Protein per meal and 2 ounces of vegetables. I take small bites, chew 25 times (or until it dissolves) and set a timer to wait 30 seconds or more between bites. But I am hungry when I'm done. I'm not sure what is going on but I'm afraid it is a recipe for overeating. I have a feeling i may not be eating enough. For example, on a sample menu I have it suggest 3/4 cup pea Soup (cooked with 1/4 skim milk) and 2 whole wheat crackers. I don't like it with skim mixed in and skim alone is a liquid. The crackers I found (and are delicious) are a 1-inch square and I had two. I'm hoping I get to add something. but we shall see... it may just come down to drinking more fluids when I'm in-between meals. And perhaps adding a shake (or two?) pdallariva 57 Posted December 31, 2016 Trust me you will not eat to much. Your body will reject it. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
