Sdaviscs 0 Posted September 16, 2007 My journey for lap banding is just starting. I am at it wits in with my weight. I have struggled with my weight since I was in 3rd grade due to severe abuse in my home. My mother had me seen by a weight doctor at this time, but didn't address the abuse. I entered eating disorder treatment twenty years ago, lost 40 lbs, but gained it back plus another 100. I am miserable, and desire to do something about this problem. I have a supportive husband and a support group around me, ready to start the journey. Sd:omg:

Sdaviscs 0 Posted October 14, 2007 As an update, Got my pre approval as a candidate for the lap band Wednesday. Went to my PCP today and had my medical information faxed to Dr Weaver/Memphis, TN. Requested a referral for an Upper-GI and found a psychologist for me evaluation. Moving along.
BobbiG 0 Posted October 14, 2007 Hi to all. I am just starting out hoping to do banding. I am getting alot of pressures to go bypass instead. Some of my research is showing dismal statistics for long term weight loss with both procedures. I need some of you success stories to encourage me. I really prefer banding. Tell me how much you've lost and how long you've kept it off. :help:
Sdaviscs 0 Posted October 15, 2007 Hello BobbiG, I haven't had the band yet, but from all I have researched I have decided to do the band. Stay with the forum and hopefully you will get validated about the band. Have you been to any support groups yet? I went to one, listened to both sides, researched a lot, joined this forum and have been talking to others...and made my decision. My primary care doctor also stated she prefers me the have the band. BobbiG 0 Posted October 24, 2007 Thanks for the reply. I have definitely decided on the band now. My primary care dr. believes that it's best for me. I have been scheduling the pre-op appts. all afternoon. We're off and running. I've taken off 12 of the 14 lbs. they want me to lose by going on Protein Shakes. Not too exciting, but doable. Good luck.
