So now that I've lost my goal weight, and kept it off for 3 years, I don't know what to do with myself. I can't afford surgery, so it looks like i will never get the body I dreamed of, and I hit the gym 5 times a week, but that can only do so much. I also noticed that I can eat, and drink so much more now, and it scares me. How do you all handle being done with your journey?

You look fantastic. Your my hero for keeping your weight maintained for 3 years.

I knew I would never be a bikini model after surgery. I cant afford plastics. Maintenance gets to be a norm..No excitement from seeing the scale move down. I have fitness goals. I distance run. I got into weight lifting more seriously the last 6 months. I cant believe how its transformed my body.( it will never be perfect) My new years goal is to up my squat game...I need a booty:-) Having new experiences in life may give you that high again.

I also eat more. I now eat like an athlete. I still eat healthy but more calories and healthy fats to burn. I also work out hard at the gym. Its all about balance

I just had to find something else to obsess over. Four years ago I wanted to lose 100lbs and write a book. I'm writing book number 5 now. As far as plastics, you never know what might come up, what you might be able to do a few years from now so work on maintaining your weight, put away a little here a little there, keep your eyes and ears open for any opportunity to have skin removed. You've done a great thing for yourself and a wonderful job doing it... don't poo poo all that work just because you need some finishing touches.

Obviously I'm seeing you clothed but from this man's perspective you have nothing to worry about. You have a nice body :)

Diana you look fantastic... if you need a lil nip and tuck I surely can't tell. If it's something you really want, see if there are any financing options available to you. Or start saving up, selling stuff on eBay and things of that nature to help out.

How do you all handle being done with your journey?

Hey, you look wonderful. It's not for me to say whether you should have or "need" reconstructive surgery. That's subjective. You've been at goal for three years. Are you so unhappy with your body? People who don't have the cash do it with loans financed with plastic/reconstructive surgeon's practice. I don't know if banks offer such loans. Gofundme.com, about which I know nothing, is another possibility. I met someone at support group several years back who'd financed his lapband surgery through that or another site. Actually, it may have been another, but I don't recall which.

You're a keeper.

@@diana89131 - Now what? Celebrate and live your life with new found enthusiasm and be thankful. You look hot and you should be proud of yourself. You women are just too dang hard on yourselves (hint: for 3 months, don't read any women's magazines, and you may lose the disomorphic body image issue). You are in the 9 category in my book, so do you want to spend $10,000+ and spend weeks in pain oozing in compression garments to get to 10? I don't think you need it all, unless there is excess skill that is causing a problem health wise. (NOTE: I'm single, I get the embarrassment when you get frisky with someone the first time and I take off my compression shirt and there is excess skin, but no one has yelled "ick" and run out of the room screaming either). ;-)

My highest weight was 269, my surgery weight is 263. I was thinking about how i would handle the loose skin and what if i need surgery. What i plan on doing is tapping out at 170... and working out to gain muscle. It was never my desire to be skinny but to be healthy. I don't want to cringe at the extra skin after i underwent this surgery. I want to feel and look pleasing to my own eye... alone necked inthe mirror.

All the best to you!

@@vcalvillo90 - #1 pick your parents well (genetics, HUGE component), #2 realize skin is your bodies largest organ, so treat it right with Water, Protein and quality food, #3 stay out of tanning beds, the sun and hot tubs #4 lupe warm showers #5 exercise, muscle underneath your skin helps. Follow these and I can't give you a guarantee, but it's the best shot you have.

In a way your real journey is just starting. Keep a food log that adds up your calories and carbs and keep track of your weight. If you see you are gaining don't wait till you are up 20-30 pounds before doing something about it.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
