Ask for some ice chips! You can't drink, but if your mouth is dry they might give you some to suck on, to just wet your tongue.

Throat is dry due to the equipment and lack of Fluid prior to surgery but I was allowed s few small sips late in evening after surgery. You definitely don't want to throw up.

The first day sucks. Use your pain pump and ask for nausea medicine (probably phenergan which will put you to sleep. Don't worry about dehydration, you're getting hydration through IV. Hopefully, you'll sleep through most of it, and then be able to drink the next morning after the swallow study.
