stratgazer 0 Posted September 16, 2007 I'm a month and 1/2 post band and as of the last few days when i try to eat my stomach fills full of thick phlegm and my stomach seems to tighten to the point its very painful....eventually i'll throw up all the phlegm and feel better. This is something new and occurs as soon as the first bite of food is swallowed. The pain from my stomach tightening is unbearable but very different from the pain from a obstruction. The only thing that is different with me in the last few days is alergy season has set in for me. Its my first alergy season since i've been banded. I wonder if my alergies have any thing to do with this new condition. What are the symptoms of a slippage? Stratgazer
Mary-2b150 0 Posted September 19, 2007 It doesn't sound like a slip to me, but I don't know what it might be. Have you talked to your doc about it since posting? Has it gone away? You can do a search for "band slippage" or "band slipping" for symptoms of a slip (I don't recall them specifically at this moment). I hope all is well, keep us informed! Big As Life 0 Posted September 19, 2007 I don't know...best to call your doctor....
dlu6503 0 Posted January 17, 2008 i know this is an old link, but the exact thing happens to me with the phlegm. Im sure by now you found the cause. I assume its related to allergies. This is a real pain in the butt. Oh well, otherwise, I love the way the operation has freed me from caring much about food Dan
juliegeraci 7 Posted January 17, 2008 Sounds more like acid reflux issues. I would talk to your doctor about it. You may need an anti acid as well as a slight unfill. This is quite common with the band.
Lexi 0 Posted April 18, 2008 Hi there! I had my surgery in February and I am experiencing the exact same symptoms plus some "gurgling" type of sensation. Eating is very painful right now and yes, there is a lot of mucus. I spoke with my doc and he stated that it was due to Allergies. It's really crappy......who would have ever thought. I live in a state where this may be an ongoing factor. Still encourage you to see your doc just in case it is something different. I am really curious as to how this can be treated.
