Compare to a c section

Recommended Posts

I'm sure this has been asked and everyone heals different, but ladies compared to a c section incision which was worse for you?

I haven't had a c section but I had 2 childbirths with tearing. This surgery was far more painful than both childbirths (one was over 27hours of labor) both with stiches. I was in pain (severe abdominal pain) for a good 2 weeks after right near my belly button. It is just starting to ease up where I don't need Tylenol ever 4 hours. Getting in and out of car still hurts bad. I am 2 and half weeks post op.

You are miserable for the first 3 days or so after the operation, then get better. I found the c section to be worse in terms of pain, also I had zero appetite for a month or so after vsg so it was easy to stick to a healthy liquid diet.

I also haven't had a c section, or any surgery, but my wife and I both had VSG. Recovery has been a breeze for us - no complications. The incisions healed up quickly and nicely, and we didn't take any pain medication after leaving the hospital.

I feel lucky not to have had any complication arise, but I don't think we're in the minority either.

I've had colds in the past where i felt worse than the VSG recovery.

I haven't had a c section but did have 4 normal deliveries with stitches. Recovery from vag MUCH easier. Very little pain and walking is much easier!

C-section was definitely worse. I felt like my guts were going to drop out every time I stood up.

3 c-sections was definitely worse. I had a great experience with Vsg no complaints and pain was minimal.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
