MandySneddon 1 Posted December 9, 2016 I am one month post op and have some burning feeling when I eat and drink. I am only having soft foods and Soups. Anyone else had that? Sent from my SM-G903W using the BariatricPal App
Treadmillwalker 486 Posted December 9, 2016 What surgery did you have? Are you taking too big of bites? I chew everything 20 to 30 times. Had lapband surgery 10/12/

wheelem 31 Posted December 10, 2016 I am five days out and yes Im also having a burning sensation. Im thinking may be the salt in my Soups even though they are low salt. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
La_Strega_Sa 33 Posted December 11, 2016 @@MandySneddon It's a drug like Nexium, Prilosec and Protonix. They reduce stomach acid so you won't have burning. The drug was made to help heal uclers and keep a disorder like GERD at bay. I was given a month's prescription while still in the hosp. Had to take it for one month. Am weaning off of it now. You weren't given anything like that?
MandySneddon 1 Posted December 11, 2016 (edited) No I wasn't given that - I was given a chalk like liquid, I think it is like Gaviscon and maybe has some inti inflamotory in it, as it is in Spanish I can't understand it! I went to Tijuana and would not recommend this company or hospital, the care was awful and a couple of us were in a lot of pain when we woke up. busybeebug 415 Posted December 11, 2016 Try an otc acid reducer like prilosec, dual fusion or things like that. Smaller bites and sips. Keep upright after eating.
Armygalbonnie 643 Posted December 11, 2016 Definitely sounds like acid. That's how I felt even with a PPI. Took liquid Carafate for 10 days and now all better. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
