Hello everyone! I'm hoping to get some encouragement and support as I'm becoming very discouraging. I had gastric sleeve on 11/3 and I have lost 21 lbs. PreOP 351, SW 322, CW 301-302. I have not lost weight in what seems like 1-2 weeks and now everyday I'm teetering between 301 and 302. Is this normal? Will the stall ever break? Anything I can do to help it break? I know everyone's journey is different but I've been doing everything I'm suppose to do and this is just so frustrating and discouraging. It really has me wondering will this work

Stay calm and back away from the scale, it will drive you insane! :) Keep at it and it will move! Maybe try mixing up your routine, different Protein, different exercises etc. My cycle just played a huge role in my latest stall, so that could factor in as well. Try not to be discouraged and stay focused on getting healthy! You've got this!

Are you doing any sort of exercise? If you aren't, I suggest you start. Even walking for 30 minutes of day will probably make a difference.

I am 3 weeks post op and lost about 24 pounds from the day I started pre op liquid diet. I heard that at one point you stop losing, but after a while you start losing again. Keep it up! Good luck

Your body doesn't know pre op weightloss from post op weightloss. All it knows is there are 50 gone. That is a lot in a short amount of time and your body needs to adjust. Just keep following your plan and focus on the great new life you are creating!

I'm 6 months out and haven't had a single stall yet. My weight loss can range anywhere from 3 pounds to one time losing 9 pounds in a week. I eat the same exact things every week and do the same exact exercise every week. for instance every Monday I eat the same thing, Tuesday the same, etc. It's a formula I know works and stick to it. Maybe that is how I avoided stalls? Even when I lose 3 pounds a week after losing 6, I just stick to the routine. I guess my point is to find a routine that works and stick with it even if you don't lose as much as you would like a certain week.

For Breakfast Monday through Friday I have a Premier Protein shake

lunch Monday through Friday I buy a package of Oscar Meyer carving board ham and turkey and divide them into five baggies for the week

dinner Monday, Wednesday and Friday is two chicken tenderloins. I dip them in an egg and breadcrumbs and fry them with some extra virgin olive oil. dinner Tuesday is breaded shrimp, usually 6 shrimp, and dinner Thursday is breaded cod, two pieces but they are small pieces. I buy the shrimp and fish frozen at Sam's Club.

Saturday is a bit of a wild card. I go a little off course and eat something not totally healthy. Only one meal though. Typically it is two Breakfast burritos at McDonalds. (They still have 13 grams of Protein a piece) Dinner is up in the air. Usually chicken of some sort.

Sunday I'm back to the Protein Shake and lunch meat and then I make a little Pasta. I get the Creamette 150 Penne. Usually eat about half of a 10 ounce box with a little can of Tomato sauce.

Exercise is mostly bike riding. I really do need to start weight training. I ride for 30 minutes before work. I also have the luxury of working from home so I get on my bike for 30 minutes during lunch and if I have time, I may even go for another 30 minutes before bed.

So far my stalls have only been when I lose only 3 pounds in a week. If I do some other activities in the week, I can get up in the 7 pound range but I have been consistently around 4-5 pounds per week. Now take into consideration I started at well over 400 pounds so losing 5-7 pounds is nothing at that weight. I am down into the 270's now and just lost 6 pounds this past week but I was pretty active working on remodeling my house.

Thanks so much!! I need to figure something out! I eat pretty much the same thing everyday as well! I haven't been able to exercise which was just walking because I pulled a muscle in my abdominal wall doing too much too soon so my doctor has me not even walking right now because of the pain.

I'm just so nervous that the tool won't benefit me. When I started this journey I was 351 so I have lost 50 lbs but the yo yoing on the scale is driving me insane. I just want to get out of these horrid 300's and finally see progress from all of my hard work

I feel your pain.... I'm in a similar predicament. Surgery on 11/15, lost 17 lbs in less than two weeks, admitted into the hospital for a few days because I was dehydrated.... now because of the IV fluids I gained 10lbs ... now I'm day 25 out and still (STILL!) trying to lose those 10lbs. I want to cry from frustration. I didn't expect this at all. And I am so devastated because I was self-pay, worked my behind off to get here, and wanted this so bad only to find I have been running into roadblock after roadblock at every turn... I'm worried this won't work and honestly starting to lose hope.

I don't mean this to sound rude, but I'm genuinely surprised that you can be discouraged and frustrated when you've lost over 20 lbs in your first 5 weeks, unless I misread something. You may want to have more realistic expectations, so your emotions don't become negative over what is actually a very positive situation. I bet, like myself, you would not have lost that weight without the surgery. Stalls happen all the time. As long as you are trending downward overall for weight, you're doing just fine!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
