Ok, lets hear them. What are some Post-op goals that you have after you get up and about. One of my goals is my kids and I do karate. I'm a purple belt currently but stopped when I started getting out of breath. Now I just watch as I help run the office. I promised my kids I would get back in it and we would do all the tournaments to go to state next year. My 15yo wants to buy a bow flex so we can work muscles to become stronger. I told them I could not start sparring again until doctor approval but I could do the rest I think. I will be talking to my doctor first though.

• not spill out of seats...especially in planes and theatres!

• overcome sleep apnea I had once already corrected through surgery

• cross my legs... good one @@Raymia!

• become more sporty

• climb the pyramids outside Mexico City

• be happy knowing that I will never again secretly eat two pies, a frozen pizza, bag of popcorn, box of pop tarts and an order of church's chicken in an evening!!! (This of course took as much therapy as it will the surgery. Surgery doesn't magically cure the root for overeating.)

• do yoga on floor without severe lower back pain and get my teaching certificate!!

My goals are....

1. Return back to cycling class at gym

2.wear a 2 piece bikini when I go to islands for my 40th bday

( Barbados or Virgin Islands) I'm 38 now so I have a little time.

3.get rid of Cpap machine due to I will no longer have sleep apnea.

4. Weigh 150 lbs and have no comorbitities.

5. Go into a regular store without getting looked at like "lady you can't fit these clothes" and pick out a size 6/8 and fit in them with no problem.

I plan on reaching each of these goals.

All the common ones: shop at regular clothing stores; fit in theater, arena, and airplane seats; travel; etc.

I'd really like to learn a physical skill that I'd enjoy. I'm not sure if that's boxing, martial arts, dancing, tai chi, or what.

Our lists are so similar! I can fly without a seatbelt extender and get up off the floor without help.

@Little Bill, I can reach and scratch my back and my butt!

My biggest goal is to apply for Survivor (and get on!!). Or is that cheating since I won't be as hungry as everyone else?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
