magnificent2015 34 Posted December 9, 2016 So I've heard before to bring like the dis-solvable gas x strips to help pass the gas test, Anything else I should be bringing? I'm hoping to be discharged the day after surgery, since I'll have to stay overnight at least the first day.
dede0314 356 Posted December 9, 2016 I didn't use much... Phone charger, blistex (something for chapped lips)
Rachel412 116 Posted December 9, 2016 I didn't use most of what I brought. My PJ pants were used once my catheter was out. I agree with lip balm & a phone charger. I used my own slippers but they gave me the nonslip socks so I really didn't need them. I brought a pillow but the surgeon requires the bed to be sitting up at all times so I couldn't really use it. sandra_dee 57 Posted December 9, 2016 What a great question! Also, should I take like a pajama gown or pajama pants and shirt? Sandy
genn 460 Posted December 9, 2016 And extension cord for ur phone charger so it reaches u. And most hospital mouth wash is horrible!!!! Lol Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
melunruh 91 Posted December 9, 2016 Just the phone charger, with extension, chapstick and slippers. I was told walking was the best thing to do to recover quickly and help move the gas out, so I did, a LOT. hayleyf3706 150 Posted December 9, 2016 @@Rachel412 Okay, so, this has nothing to do with the question. But did having the catheter out hurt??
Isalithe 44 Posted December 9, 2016 Only thing I really used was my phone and the charger. I wish I would have brought my own nonslip socks because the hospital ones were useless.
Rachel412 116 Posted December 10, 2016 @@Rachel412 Okay, so, this has nothing to do with the question. But did having the catheter out hurt??It didn't hurt, but it pushed up against my parts every time I moved so I constantly felt like I needed to pee. After they took it out it was a little sore, but I was on good pain meds and it really didn't bother me at all.
DaleCruse 756 Posted December 11, 2016 I saw that YouTube video about GasX strips also. I took a bunch to the hospital and didn't need a single one. Each of us is different. Consider taking a light book containing your favorite inspiration. Instead of staring at your phone for hours, give yourself a break and read something else. Or maybe listen to an audio book. vegbeth 79 Posted December 11, 2016 Thanks for the audio book idea. I'm definitely going to do that!
LRY 0 Posted December 29, 2016 I was told by a friend to bring a good moisturizer because pre-op soap gets you very itchy
vegbeth 79 Posted December 29, 2016 I brought pj pants and very glad I did. Also brought deodorant since they wouldn't let me use it before surgery. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
