Hunger is something we all "feel" not hear.

When you are first banded you discover that you swallow air a lot more than you realized. Your stoma almost acts like a one way valve, air goes down but it doesn't come up easily after passing through your stoma. When you hear those sounds it is air in your stomach or intestines. Sounds don't cause hunger, what you feel determines if you are hungry.

Since you just had surgery it is really super important that you keep pushing fluids. Drink until your teeth float and then drink some more. ;) Keep hydrated, keep your Protein intake up, and most of all, avoid sugar and carbs. They will mess with your blood sugar and then you'll learn what hunger is in a big huge way!

I just got banded 9/12 and besides bein on Clear Liquids for 1 week (WHEN I THOUGHT I WOULD BE ABLE TO DO Protein SHAKES) its been ok. My back hurts more then anything but i always had a bad back so having to sleep on my back for 2-4 days straight really hurt it. i am not sure how to keep my intake going when all i have is Water, sf Jello. i feel weak! my dr told me to buy Isopure which i did and it made me feel better but from the sound of it im not gettin enough fluids. i guess i need more Isopure.

Linda, i have those same "sounds" so im glad you asked because the answer :air: makes sense.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
