Premier Protein - Gas

Recommended Posts

I have been using Premier Protein ready to drink as an option that my Dr. uses after Gastric Sleeve (Nov 9) so tomorrow will be 1 month post-op. All was well when I was home the gas has no order (sorry tmi) but the gas is horrible. I mean for hours after I drink it. And sadly I am supposed to drink 2. Now that I am back to work after two weeks I am miserable. I mean miserable. I do take 30 minutes of my lunch and walk laps hoping it will help but it does not. I see the nutritionist tomorrow and hope she can suggest something. Has anyone else ever had this issue when drinking the Premier Protein ready to drink shakes? It makes me feel bloated and just terribly uncomfortable. Suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Maybe your nutritionist will give you better advice. It sounds like the shakes might not be agreeing with you and you need another way to get in your Protein. I used to mix my Premier Protein with almond milk and Water. I know, it sounds yuck! But, it helped...not only with the thickness of the shake.

Good luck with your appointment tomorrow and best wishes to you!

Don't count out that it may not be the shake, I don't drink them and my farts stink too! Look at anything else you may have added, this is why they say try one new food at a time or almond milk etc. I'm still on liquids but I'm tracking which Protein shake mix is better or worse. Good luck I totally understand

I was told before my surgery that those may not agree with me right after surgery...and they were right! While they were my goto pre op the milk for my new stomach was a little too much. I was told to start off with whey Protein ISOLATE to start just because it didn't contain the stuff that makes you gassy. I bought that in powder form and would mix it with almond milk and it was perfect. But it has to be ISOLATE, not whey Protein blend or concentrate. I am now 3 weeks out and they no longer bother me so it does get better! Hope this helps!

Premier Protein makes me instantly bloated! Idk what it is! I've been using powdered ISO100 instead and I still think I bloat a lil after but it is NOTHING compared to the bloating I got with premier! Try switching to a powdered Protein. It's a lil less convenient but worth it!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
