Help, I am in pain!

Recommended Posts

Does anyone who had too tight of a fill know how long it takes

to relax a little bit?

I had this problem where my dr. suspected a leak so I think that's

why he put a little bit extra in there. I now have 3.0 in a 4cc band.

I can drink Water and sip Protein drinks, but my stomach hurts

like I have a vice grip around it. I know there is swelling, so I want

to wait a few days before I call for an unfill. I have had trouble losing

up until this point, and if this fill loosens slightly, I will start to lose

again, and not have to have some removed. I won't hesitate to have

some taken out if it isn't going to mellow out a little. I just got it

yesterday.

Nobody can answer the question of how long it took for a fill to be a little

bit looser?

Sorry, I didn't read properly. Give it time. The swelling with either go down, and you fill feel better, or it won't and you will need an unfill.

Either way, stay on liquids for at least a couple of days. It always took about 3 or 4 days for any swelling to go down for me, and I kept to liquids and mushy foods during that time.

Thanks Chickie. I only got the fill yesterday. This is the first time it's been this tight and noticeable. I really want to keep it, but I won't hesitate to get an unfill if I don't see some changes next week.

I have really been struggling with losing. I go on really long plateaus without losing. Then I got a fill, and he must have not been in the port. When he checked it, I had no saline. Then he gave me this fill.

I thought I had a leak. I must not because I haven't lost any of this fill.

I am sorry I didn't read the post properly the first time *blushing*

Give it time. It may settle down. I hope it all goes well for you. Let us know!

I have the 4cc band also and I can not tolerate at 3.. or even 2.75..I am at 2.5 now and it is fine. I kept the 2.75 for 3 weeks because the weight was just falling off of me. Which of course it would, but I was tired and feelign not well...and LOTS of reflux and pain. So had the un-fill and was better almost immedieately!! Good luck to you!

I think I am going to call for an unfill tomorrow. I can't take this

anymore. It's nice to see the scale moving, but I don't want

to go through any more nights feeling like I am choking.

Sometimes the pain goes away, but when it's back tonight,

and I know I can't take it anymore.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
