You look amazing. They say it takes about a year for your eyes to catch up. I went from a 24 to a 16 since October I don't see what everyone else does either. I've read to look at just body pics and not your face. Your mind recognizes your face and puts the past images with it. Just a thought

I understand totally. I have gone from a 26/28 to an 8/10 and I still just see the old me in the mirror. Now if I look at a side by side I can see the difference of course but daily in the mirror not so much.

From a guys perspective, you look fantastic. I am in the same boat as all of you. I don't see where I am any thinner even though everyone says I am. I took a photo of my face last night and compared it to a before surgery photo. I can see that I am thinner but I think I look old even though people say I look younger.

I have been at goal over 6 months and still don't always understand it (and I even had lower body lift 8 weeks ago). It does take time to adjust. Having said that, I strongly encourage seeing a therapist. I have been seeing the one who had to do my psych eval before surgery for almost 2 years now and she is probably the most valuable tool in my arsenal. HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend.

Talking to a shrink might not be bad...It might awaken some thoughts and give you some clarity....It doesn't mean your crazy!!....I think we all would love to talk to someone without being judged....You look great by the way....even when you were heavier..you were cute. So, just BE YOU!..no matter what size!.

It's called body dysmorphia, talking to a psychiatrist may help ease that. Seeking praise from others will only put a bandaid on the issue. We can tell you, you look great (because girl you're killing it) but if you don't see it, you need someone to help you understand what you're feeling and how to work through it.

I am 3 years out from my RNY. I lost my goal weight in 6 months. I started out at 249#'s my surgery weight was 232#'s my lowest weight was 117's I did have a 8# gain so I now weigh 125#'s and have maintained my weight for 2 and 1/2 years. When I look in the mirror I still see the fat person before. Not every day but more than I should. You are not alone!! I tried to get some counseling but we don't have a Bariatric counselor local. I even went to a Bariatric Nutritionist but her idea was not even feasible, she wanted me to eat every 1/2 hour I was awake. I felt like I was trading one eating disorder for another. I didn't want to become a grazer!! Most people don't see themselves thinner. But you can bet most do see their body as fat as it was. So sad!! Hopefully, you can find some answers and come back to help us. BTW YOU LOOK AMAZING!!!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
