I have had ZERO pain from this surgery. Not even kidding.the only pain I have is from my back, which stops the second I stand up. No nausea. Nothing.

It does help, thank you. I have my surgery Jan 3, 17 so I'm trying my best to get everything I néed before hand because my brother will be my partial caregiver, then the other half I'm on my own. We're you able to take care of yourself or did you need help? I weigh a lot 500 so I can't walk well at all and not sure how easy it will be for me to get out of my recliner due to abdominal incisions. Recommendations, I'd love it since you are so new out.

I was 371lbs and I found getting on and off the toilet to be particularly painful. So I had my sister bring me the toilet riser I used when I had my Achilles Tendon repaired and couldn't put my foot down. Its just molded plastic that gives you another 3-5" of height so its easier to get up and down. My right incision felt like it was tearing every time I got up and down and I had to have my husband help me up prior to getting the riser.

Oh that's a great suggestion. My toilet is pretty high but I should get one to be on the safe side

We have comfort height toilets as well but the weight of my lower stomach pulled on the biggest incision causing that burning feeling. The extra inches helped reduce that pulling.

I had a drain after surgery for a week, it sucked and the day I got it out was the best day of my life

You can shower with it, I suggest getting a really long shoelace or something you can put around your neck like a necklace to hang it from when in the shower. Also, pin it with a safety way up or attach it to your bra, don't pin it to your pants! One trip to the bathroom and you'll tank that baby and it's gross enough - when it gets tugged it's not pleasant!!

Hope that helps with the drain, in the end it's all worth it!!!! Just keep saying that in your head

When we discussed it he didn't mention the drain. I'm keeping my fingers crossed he won't do it lol

Immediately after your surgery... What were the things that kept you most comfortable? Was it a heating pad? Maybe your favorite blanket? I'm just trying to gather ideas to help keep the pain down. Thanks.

I brought my heating pad but didn't use it. I had a morphine pump in the hospital, no pain whatsoever.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
