Crafty Li'l Devil 144 Posted December 8, 2016 Immediately after your surgery... What were the things that kept you most comfortable? Was it a heating pad? Maybe your favorite blanket? I'm just trying to gather ideas to help keep the pain down. Thanks. Sent from my SM-G920P using the BariatricPal App

Isalithe 44 Posted December 8, 2016 Gas x strips for sure. If I could go back, I'd bring a blanket.
mandy4508 27 Posted December 8, 2016 Happy to help! I fly home from Mexico tomorrow. Just had my drain tube out. That wasn't fun lol. But those and drinking from a cup a not a Water bottle have made a big difference too. You don't realize how much air gets in the bottle and it hurts after you swallow and feel it bubble up. My new night nurse said to try it out of a glass and NO Bubbling or chest pressure is happening now. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App Happy to help! I fly home from Mexico tomorrow. Crafty Li'l Devil 144 Posted December 8, 2016 Lots of pillows. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App I have plenty of those! Well I probably won't in the hospital but I'll likely bring my favorite pillow Sent from my SM-G920P using the BariatricPal App
Moon Princess 55 Posted December 8, 2016 I have a giant shark whose my cuddle buddy (his name is BLÅHAJ from Ikea lol) the hydrocodone they gave me from the hospital and gas-x strips. Oh and sugar free popsicles! Water is hard to get down and Jello makes me gag, but man those popsicles were such spirit lifters (got them day 2 of recovery). I also have a really fluffy blanket. I just recommend any soft cuddly things and stuff to ease the pain. (Popsicles, don't forget the popsicles lol). Babbs 14,681 Posted December 8, 2016 In all seriousness though, walking is the best way to minimize the gas pain. Force yourself to walk!
Crafty Li'l Devil 144 Posted December 8, 2016 I'm gonna do my best to walk but my knees are pretty screwed. I hope I can do it. Though if they've got me on pain meds I probably won't feel my knees. Sent from my SM-G920P using the BariatricPal App

Sent from my SM-G920P using the BariatricPal App Well, I don't know about your surgeon and hospital, but I was forced to get up and walk the halls every couple of hours the next morning after surgery. It really helps with the pain. I hope your knees aren't bothering you too much so you can get some walking in. But yeah, maybe the pain meds will minimize it a bit
Crafty Li'l Devil 144 Posted December 8, 2016 @@Babbs I'm assuming theyll make me do the same to keep blood clots at bay, I'm feeling lucky that I'll be in a private surgical center but dreading those walks. I don't think I'd be here if it weren't for the truck that hit me. Sent from my SM-G920P using the BariatricPal App
