OhHeyMarina 285 Posted December 8, 2016 (edited) Got these cook books today, I know they are for after surgery but thought I'd share for those of us who haven't had it yet to be prepared. I've gone through all the books and they have great recipes! Hundreds of recipes between the 2 books and they tell you step by step and how much of everything you need, they even already list the macros for you so you know the nutrition of everything as long as you follow the serving portion in the books you will know exactly what calories, Protein, fat, carbs, etc it has and in "eating well after weight loss surgery" every meal in that book can be made no matter what stage you are in after surgery, wether you are in purée or finally able to eat solid things each meal can be made and it teaches you how to make the modifications for each. Just thought I'd share for any of you interested Edited December 8, 2016 by OhHeyMarina

I have so many sleeve books as well as cookbooks helped me before my surgery (10/21/16!) Sent from my SM-G935P using the BariatricPal App
OhHeyMarina 285 Posted December 8, 2016 They look amazing! like reading these recipes make me look forward to all this cause to be honest for the longest time i was literally upset thinking that nothing was every gonna be good again for me and that because ill only be able to eat a small amount that everything would be so plain but these all sound so flavorful and good! The book is over 300 pages so a whole ton of recipes!
dominyks_mom 54 Posted December 8, 2016 Lol I still do it! It is a plus not being able to eat so much, let me tell you! Granted I never ate much to begin with, but now I eat WAY less! Just have to make sure that you make it worth while! I am only about 6 weeks out but can only eat about 1 egg and about half of a small Roma Tomato. I know some people are different. But just have to make sure you eat slow! Sent from my SM-G935P using the BariatricPal App

dominyks_mom 54 Posted December 8, 2016 Watch your clock on your phone or something and time it out by at least 2 minutes. That's what I do. It will hurt physically if you don't. I learned that the hard way. I still do it for that matter depending on the food! Sent from my SM-G935P using the BariatricPal App
OhHeyMarina 285 Posted December 8, 2016 @@dominyks_mom thanks for the advice my doctor said it should take 20 minutes or more to finish a meal and I'm like i finish in like 5 lol
dominyks_mom 54 Posted December 8, 2016 Lol I figured if I give myself at least 2 minutes between bites I should have it gone in the 20 minutes. If I start feeling sick I am either eating too fast or I wasn't ready for the food just yet. You will be able to tell when you're getting full. They will tell you in the hospital too, but early on you will get full faster because of the swelling, so when you start feeling full, get up and walk around first before you completely stop eating. OhHeyMarina 285 Posted December 8, 2016 Lol I will definitely be eating slow and trying to see the signs that I'm full cause all my life I've never had that Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
dominyks_mom 54 Posted December 8, 2016 @@dominyks_mom thanks for the advice my doctor said it should take 20 minutes or more to finish a meal and I'm like i finish in like 5 lolAs far as "or more", it shouldn't take longer than 30 minutes, at that point it is considered grazing (coming from my surgeon and classes, I know everyone is different) so I would definitely check the time frames! I am no pro that's for sure! Lol Sent from my SM-G935P using the BariatricPal App
OhHeyMarina 285 Posted December 8, 2016 @@dominyks_mom I was told we have to eat away from distractions till we can tell how we are full that way we aren't distracted by the tv or computer, etc and that should help with no grazing

dominyks_mom 54 Posted December 8, 2016 It helped me for the most part. Granted it is hard to do when you have a 5 year old lol and no dinning room lol. I was able to do it in the hospital. But I was only in there over night. So that really didn't help much. I have found that I do have to set alarms on my phone to remind me to eat though otherwise I don't eat.
