THREE THINGS / Just Sleeved

Recommended Posts

How i get out of bed without much pain is gently roll on my left side, pull my right knee up and hold it with my right arm. I use it as a weight to help get myself up. Most of the work is done by my arms, so there's only a minimal amount of stress on my stomach.

I'm bad at describing things.

That is a great idea. You described it just fine!! I already tried and it helps wonders!! Xoxo

Yeah, I was alittle leary of going in the store to get scales, but once in there, bought some Christmas presents for articulate stepson! But seriously, weighing my food has helped sooo much.

1. I was actually heavier following surgery. Apparently this is normal with all the gas etc

2. I was still physically hunger for the first week. But I read that it is just stomach acid mimicking hunger. That made it much easier to ignore. :)

3. Have sugar free cough drops by your bed. I needed one in the middle of the night every night for the first week.

Bonus: take the darn sleeping pills if they give you any! I didn't take them every night and I regretted it (and yet still would tell myself the next night would be different! Ugh!)

Love the cough drops and sleeping pills. I tried my ambient last night and it was so wonderful to get a slightly full night of sleep! Great tips. Thanks for the response!

1. Weigh/ measure your food.< /p>

2. Carefully track your Protein no fluids.

3. Don't let Constipation go on too long because it can be very painful.

4. Don't compare your weight loss to others or expect it will be consistent.

5. Once you are on solids, try one new thing at a time.

6. If things just don't taste right, be patient. It gets better.

7. Eating out is manageable and others will not notice your eating.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
