Jenny Nelson 5 Posted December 7, 2016 When did you all start eating salads? I'm craving one but don't want to hurt my new sleeve. I had surgery on Nov. 11th. Before surgery I was 307. During surgery I weighed 265, I am now 242. So I am doing good. On my last week of puree foods then I can start soft. :-) is salad considered a soft?? Also, how do you get rid of dry, cotton mouth? I drink Water all day but still mouth is dry. Any suggestions? Thank you for your help. Sent from my SM-N900T using the BariatricPal App
suzzzzz 1,005 Posted December 7, 2016 Lettuce is considered a raw vegetable, so when your plan allows them, you can eat a salad. It was 6 weeks for me. However, with so little space for food, after having Protein, a couple of small bites of salad is all I have room for. I didn't have a dry mouth after the first day so can't help there. genn 460 Posted December 7, 2016 Hav you tried biotene mouth wash it helps with dry mouth and salads are not considered soft foods bc the ate leaf and hard to swallow. Everyone's surgeons guidelines are different tho so I would suggest you asking ur surgeon or your NUT. I know I cannot have salad till I'm on a full regular foods diet. Best of luck sounds like your doing awesome!!! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
Ssze1109 163 Posted December 8, 2016 My mouth is always dry too. I had surgery Nov 9th. I think the Protein shakes make it so much worse. Only thing that helps me is sugar free Popsicles. I have biotene but that does nothing for me. salad is a raw vegetable. I miss salads too. I am eating well cooked vegetables now though. rolosmom7 740 Posted December 9, 2016 2 months on the salad. And biotene mouth rinse! It's helpful - I still get cotton mouth, but it's better than nothing.
cassandramarie93 199 Posted December 10, 2016 I have the same issue with dry mouth as well I was sleeved on November 7th. I get all my fluids in and wake up multiple times in a night to sip on Water because my tongue sticks to the top of my mouth like velcro when I go to sleep. I'm going to have to pick up some biotene. I've read in several places that this is a common side effect of this surgery. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
