Getting closer...this is becoming more real!

Recommended Posts

Started the process of getting the sleeve in July by attending a seminar at The McConnell Heart Center in Columbus, Ohio. After speaking with my insurance company I found that just the psych eval and 3 nutriton visits were all I needed. After my physical with the nurse practitioner, she told me I was one of the healthier patients they see and all I needed was an EGD and right upper quadrant ultrasound to check my gallbladder. Soooooo I had my first nutriton visit in November, my EGD today, 2nd nutriton visit and psych eval December 13th and the last nutriton visit in January then wait for the insurance to approve it.

As I was walking into pre-op it hit me...this is becoming more real and I'm actually doing this! My family is not that supportive and think since I've lost 10lbs the last month or so just watching what I'm eating I don't need the surgery. I've went to all my appointments after the seminar by myself except for the EGD...so I sort of feel like I'm in this alone.

It looks like my surgery may be in February and hoping to only take 2 weeks off on short term disability. My FMLA doesn't kick in until May. Should I go ahead and have the surgery in February or wait until May? Sorry for the long post!

Do what you think is best for YOU! Everyone has an opinion but it is your body. If you want to have it in Feb. do it then. I think 2 weeks is the normal time to be off of work. If you really want the FMLA benefit then wait until May. It's all up to you sweetie. Wishing you all the best

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
