All I see is ppl with surgery dates in this group while I'm here biting my nails playing the waiting game. I keep telling myself to relax but I'm tooo excited!!! I think I need to realize that a lot of you been working on this for months, I literally woke up one day called the doctor and scheduled a appointment last month.... I've wanted to do this for years but held off because of my parents and finally at the age of 35! I decided I have to do what's best for me. Now I'm sitting here like a groupie looking at before and after pics to see results.

P.S. Take some pictures! Don't wait until you lose the weight take those good BYE Fat pics!!! I know I did ;)

You're not alone. My last appointment was this past Friday. My surgeon gave me a guesstimate date of the surgery, but no true date. She stated that my paperwork would be sent over to the insurance company as well on Friday. So I'm waiting for insurance and surgery date. Oh I'm moving, planning a wedding and starting school . So I understand your stress

Actually, when I made the decision to do this, it was less than 2 weeks to my surgery date. My insurance is junk so I went with self-pay and I'm going to TJ Mexico. I read reviews about the docs and changed my mind once and still have a fast surgery date. My pre-op liquid diet is for one week and I fly in the same day I have surgery and I'm still anxious. In other words, no matter how quickly that day arrives, it's not soon enough. Like you, I've discussed this for years and at the age of 44, I'm finally doing it! Good luck to you!

Ugh. So I am in Canada so while it's free I have to wait and wait and wait. I was first referred in March. I did not get my first apt until June. I jumped through all the hoops from July through to December (last paperwork goes in today. I will likely meet with the surgeon in March and likely will not have surgery until June! So 15 months in total. And that is an estimate. It could be longer.

Let me say it's worth the wait, just work on you and slowly losing until you get the surgery, that's how I did, my insurance took 9 monthly consecutive supervised primary Dr. Visit

My last appointment was I'm Friday too and my paperwork was just sent over as well. My surgeon also gave me a guesstimate of no later than January! Looks like we might be doing this pretty close together!

I have a guesstimate date as well, but I'm just gonna claim that that's the date! Lol I submit my paperwork in on the 20th of this month! Praying for approval... now if my surgeon has an opening in January, I will take that. But February 20 is my guesstimate date, and that's what I'm going with! The waiting game can seem lengthy but it will be here in no time for you!

I guess I am a hater too lol. I just made my decision two weeks ago and paid my deposit last Friday (I'm a self-pay). I would go sooner if I could.

My motivation of choice are the jealousy stories though lol

Where are you? I'm on the East Coast, and I too waited about 15-16 months from referral date to surgery date. In the beginning I was told to expect to wait any time between 4-7 years! While I'm glad the wait wasn't nearly that long I am glad for the extra time. For me it helped me wrap my head around what I was really doing, and I also had to do a trial liquid diet BEFORE the pre op liquid diet.

I am in Ontario. I am surprised at how quickly the time is going and yes, it's true...the extra time is probably a good thing. I just was hoping for March. This also would line up with 1 year which is what I originally had mind wrapped around. More waiting....

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
