jconnor6783 2 Posted December 5, 2016 Three years ago I started having digestive problems. I've had numerous tests done with no definite answers. They are diagnosing it as IBS even though my case seems to be mild compared to others. I'm currently 350 pounds and am tentatively looking at a June gastric bypass surgery. My hope is that by eating less and healthier along with having roughly 150 pounds less on me will help my problems. Has anyone had digestive problems before surgery and gotten better after? Has anyone had problems get worse? Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N920A using the BariatricPal App
asantiago 89 Posted December 5, 2016 Hello. I had severe acid reflux and hardly use to go to bathroom. I developed a lot of issue with my esphogus that lead to erosion and esphogitis. I use to aspirate in my sleep and almost chocked to death and was rushed in ambulance a few times. I will tell you that losing any amount of weight helps so much. I had gastric bypass last December and this December will be 1yr anniversary for me and since I lost weight, I feel so much better and now I am starting to see a big difference. I feel better in many ways. Wish you the best.

I had gastric bypass last December and this December will be 1yr anniversary for me and since I lost weight, I feel so much better and now I am starting to see a big difference. I feel better in many ways. Wish you the best. My issue has been the frequent urge to use the bathroom. Having had any accidents because I haven't put myself in a situation like that. I really haven't done much in the last few years. Some days are better than others. I'm figuring if I eat less and feel full longer it should help. I generally feel bad after eating meals (I have to eat decent sized ones to feel full) or when my stomach starts to growl. That's when it acts up the worst. I've never spent the night in the hospital or fully been put out. Those are the two things I'm not looking forward to. I've been kinda put out during a colonoscopy but it was an in and out type of thing. asantiago 89 Posted December 5, 2016 Hi I think the surgury will help you a lot. Make sure you mention that to the surgeon before about those feelings you get. I know after my second surgury since I ran into a issue, I experience irregularity and kept going to the bathroom but it didn't last long. I am ok now. I am sure you will be ok as well. .
