Not necessarily, but I wouldn't go overboard. Your stomach is healing. I stuck with Protein drinks, yogurt, and Water. I could have used crystal light to flavor the Water, but I figured that it would be one less thing for my belly to worry about while healing. Im on soft foods now, and I love cooking with spices. Spice and flavoring can also have nutritional value, but watch the salt and the processed flavorings. Just my opinion. I'm new to this, so I could be wrong :)

You may find plain Water difficult to drink. I know it sounds crazy but many will attest. I did have to flavor mine with crystal light or snapple.

I also used premiere Protein chocolate drinks.

Sip your drinks but do this pretty constantly to get it all in.

I had the opposite and still do. Plain Water or Water with a lemon in it works best for me. Also, room temp water especially first thing in the am before your new stomach wakes up.

I still drink room temp water today, it allows me to drink much more of it. I have a hard time with anything that is too cold.

Thank you everyone! I was thinking it was a clear diet afterwards. So many things going through my mind and I want to have the least amount of problems as possible. I know those things can't be planned but I want to do my part on eating right. Thanks again!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
