VSG and Hysterectomy

Recommended Posts

I'm almost 6 weeks out from VSG surgery (had hernia repair at the same time). I had a hysterectomy 3 years ago and let me tell you, I was not expecting this emotional roller coaster. The mood swings have been monstrous and I really don't think I need to go back to work just yet. I cry at random and get so angry at people I just want to yell at them (and have). It's been frustrating until I went to my Ob/Gyn and he explained what's happening internally (fat stores estrogen and losing weight fast causes an estrogen roller coaster) and helped me feel better that it's a process and it will get better. We may have to tweak the estrogen Patches a few times until we get the right dosage.

Anyone else had this issue?

This is something I fear. I had a full hysterectomy 2 years ago, and am scheduled for my surgery in 2 days. I stopped the hormone Patches 4 months ago but looks like that may have a mistake . Thank you for sharing , I will let you know how it all effects me assuming I still have the surgery, Thank you for sharing . I hope it gets better soon. If you need someone to vent to let me know.

Have the surgery! It'll definitely be worth it to have the tool to lose the weight and keep it off! Definitely work with your Ob/Gyn closely. As long as you expect the emotional roller coaster and recognize that you're on the ride, just hold on and you'll be fine.

Oh man! I had cancer 3 years ago (followed by 14 surgeries) hysterectomy 2 years ago. So with chemo, then hysterectony, I got to do menopause TWICE! YAY me! NOT looking forward to dealing with mood swings again. But I have to ask...since there is an estrogen dump from the fat stores, is there also a short-term increase in sex drive to go with it? Cuz I've had exactly ZERO since my hysterectomy!
