BCBS FED

Recommended Posts

I have surgery on the 21st and can't get clear numbers on how much I'll have to pay and when. I know I pay 15% of the plan, plus $350 for the hospital stay. I've met my deductible. How much did you have to pay before surgery with BCBS FED? Thx.

From the people I have talked to you will pay for all anathesia cost, surgeon, and any meds that you may be given during your stay. I think there might be a few other costs. Call you insurance company...I have BCBS FED TEXAS, BASIC PLAN.

Anesthesia should be covered under your plan 100%. Double check that one. I have FEP Blue Basic and I know it is covered.

I will thank you with that one.

Did you have to pay anything up front? What were you total out of pocket $$?

@@kell911 I didn't but I also have a second party payer (supplemental insurance). Otherwise I would have had to pay the hospital co-pay and the surgeon co-pay up front. I'd say that was in the ball park of 300.00 - 500.00.

Great news about the insurance!!!

I have to only pay:

$40 surgeon copay office visit

$25 hospital

$100 out pt surgery

$200 for the Surgeon

$100 nutrition class (1)

EVERYTHING else is covers 100%

This insurance is AMAZING!!!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
