Ok...so I have been trying to remain calm and stick to my plan, and I have. I have lost 18 lbs and I'm 6 weeks post op. I speak to my dr at my 6 wk follow up and apparently even though I'm hitting my Protein and Water goals...I'm not eating enough ...r u kidding. It seems like all I do is eat...so frustrating!!

Did you talk to the doc about what you are eating? That could make all the difference right there. I know when I went from liquids to soft food, I was still doing a few shakes a day. That got me to my Protein goals, but they don't stick with a person like real food does. Moving away from them to more solid forms of Protein helped me out quite a bit. Your situation may be completely different, but your doctor or nutritionist should have some good answers for you.

I did an apparently eating clean gets u to your protein goal but not your caloric one. I was getting 80 g of protein at or about 700 calories..she wants me at 1200. I have decided to throw in a few extra items in my meal I just don't want to sacrifice protein for calories

Yeah, I've added in some extra calories here and there. I was getting my Protein goal done, but I was less than 1000 calories as well. Maintenance for my target weight will be almost three times that. I am shooting for around 1200 or a little more right now.

I would just eat more Protein and I added some calories by baking my fish with Ghee early on.

My nutritionist said exess Protein will get stored as fat so I'm trying to figure out how to up the calories without adding too much protein ...trial and error I guess!

Protein does not get stored as fat any more than carbs do. Excess calories get stored as fat. You need to eat 2,900 calories a day to maintain 280 lbs. If you are eating 1000 calories a day you it would be pretty hard not to lose weight.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
