Non-liquid Pre-Op Diet?

Recommended Posts

Newbie here, scheduled for sleeve surgery on Dec. 21. I see the dietitian tomorrow and start my two-week pre-op diet on Wednesday. Sounds like the vast majority here are on a liquid diet, but mine is more of an Atkins Phase I diet -- no more than 40 g carbs per day, but not many restrictions otherwise. Anyone else on a non-liquid pre-op diet? Is this normal?

No , I start my 2 week liquid diet on Jan 16th . My surgery is on Jan 30th. The liquid diet help to shrink your liver to avoid any potential issues during surgery. I guess all bariatric surgeons are different but everyone I know Including family who had the surgery were all on a 2 week liquid diet b4 surgery.

I only had a 3 day pre-op diet and it was not liquid. It was low fat and sugar, moderate carbs. I could have grits (no butter) low fat dairy, Protein shakes, low fat Soups, etc. No meat, bread or other carbs. No caffeine. It was easy and my surgery went fine. Every surgeon has different dietary requirements pre and post op.
