Hammer_Down 631 Posted December 4, 2016 I am so friggin' pleased! I suffer from horrible period cramps, and I have to be hyper aware of oncoming periods to get in front of the cramps with LOTS of pain pills or I am left playing "catch up" and stay in a moderate to severe amount of pain. This is the first time in 20 years (since I first started) that I haven't had my period like clockwork. I'm sure it's because I've shed 18% of my total body weight in 6 weeks, although I did have a period about a week after surgery. This has been the greatest motivator for me yet! I'm seriously ecstatic!!
linah 92 Posted December 4, 2016 (edited) Once your body recovers you might notice an increase in bleeding the first 2 days but a decrease in the amount of days you have your period. I used to have very bad cramping, it got a lot better after I gave birth so I can't judge regarding the effects of the operation on it. Glad it's helping you so far though :-) Sent from my SM-G900FD using the BariatricPal App Edited December 4, 2016 by linah

I started my period on 12/26, 5 days after surgery, and it hasn't stopped since.
travelsinbc 3 Posted February 21, 2017 When I had my thyroidectomy, I had a period almost immediately after when still in the hospital. My doctor says that those are not periods, but they are just adjustments after the hormonal change. It takes a while to get a "normal" period again. I have had it quite regularly since then. This was a year ago. Going in a week for the Gastric Sleeve, and am probably going to be bringing supplies with me to my surgery, as all the hospital had were maternity pads when I had my surgery.
