Almost 6 months out 65 lbs down started at 308. Learned that I can get a good amount of carbs down if I eat them slowly. Need to get back on track. Dont love meat. In fact get repulsed when I Cook meat or fish. Sick of eggs. Anyone k ow of ways to get off of carbs while being satisfied with other choices. Or bean recipes that are good sources of ptotein?

Cottage cheese, Peanut Butter yogurt, milk, many veggies and many nuts are high in Protein.

Yeah carbs are not our bariatric friend. Stay far away from them. In moderation is fine but if your already falling back to them it's best to clean them right out of the house.

Make a menu for the week and go grocery shopping after a meal and stick to the list. This really helped me.

Not sure what support you have but talk to your dietitian about portions and meal ideas. Also could join if you haven't yet the meals forum on here.

Great ideas. Or even Google bariatric meals. There are thousands of great ones.

I know you are sick of eggs, but maybe in a new form? I've been making mini-quiches with an almond meal crust: 1 1/2 c almond flour, 1/2 c tapioca, 3T cold butter, 1 egg, 1t Water, salt. Cut the butter in to form a dough. Then I push the dough into a silicon mini cupcake tray and prebake until golden. then fill with your quiche mixture. I freeze them and then grab one on my way out the door to microwave at work.

Some good bean dishes that aren't chili:

Falafel

Black Bean burgers

"meatballs" made with lentils - google NY times veggie balls

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
