Hazel_eyez 173 Posted December 4, 2016 (edited) So, I am only 8 days post-op and before I felt motived to get all my fluids and Protein (although I still haven't fully met my goal with water). I think this was mainly from all the stomach acid my stomach was still producing. So, on days 5 and 6 I took a PPI to stop the stomach pain at night. Now, I don't know what it is but I don't feel like eating (drinking) anything including Water. Part of me is tired of how much effort it takes to even finish 12 oz and now I am not hungry. I am afraid when I go back to work on Monday, I will forget to drink anything. Has anyone dealt with this and what was your solution? I am just frustrated with my mental state because I know it isn't healthy to not take anything in. Edited December 4, 2016 by Hazel_eyez
blizair09 3,250 Posted December 4, 2016 I make a consumption record in a word doc each day that keeps up with when I eat or drink and what I eat or drink. I typically front load Water in the morning (48 oz after the first time I eat and 32 oz after the second time I eat). In the beginning, I would set an alarm on my phone that would remind when to eat and drink. Now, I am used to it, so I am able to keep up without an alarm. (But I still write everything down and it still helps me.) It takes me 12-14 hours to get everything in (allowing the 30 minutes before and after eating with no water), but I haven't had to rely on Protein shakes at all in weeks. I took 6 weeks off of work, so I was able to devote myself 100% to my recovery and learning how to eat and drink in this new way. Now that I am back to work, and even working from home, I have to be careful to stay on top of everything. It is very easy to get wrapped up in something and an hour go by and you don't drink. Good luck.
