Hi everyone!

I'm only on day 3 of having my band. And I'm having a really hard time with craving food that I'm not supposed to be eating yet or otherwise (i.e. pizza, cheeseburgers, fries, etc). Any advice on how to get through this phase? Or things I can eat/drink to stay satisfied? Water, Jello, and Protein water aren't cutting it...

If allowed full fluids.....I strained Progresso chicken Enchilada Soup and felt like I'd had actual enchiladas.

Your clear liquid phase is stricter than what my surgeon required. I was allowed creamed Soups (strained). I made it with Fair Life skim milk which is high Protein. I find that hot drinks/soups make me feel fuller. High Protein worked for me. I added unflavored Protein powder to my creamed Soups.< /p>

Had lapband surgery 10/12/16

@@Erin25, if this is the first time in your life that you were consigned to something you didn't like, you're the only one. Remind yourself of why you had surgery. We (that's the royal "We") hope you considered your willingness to make major changes when you were considering surgery. Consider these first days post-surgery as basic training. in the army.

Uh-uh, no suggestions here for things you can eat since you've already announced you're on cleare likwids. You can flavor up the Water with Crystal Light or something similar. It's not the same as cheeseburgers, but at least the mixing will occupy you for a few seconds. Were you told no bouillon? That should be fit within your instructions. The fact that it's hot will be a nice change from what you've been drinking.

One week out of a lifetime. Big deal.

It gets better.

Thank you @@genn and @@WLSResources/ClothingExch for the chicken bullion idea. Definitely did not even think of it! I did purchase Protein powder that I can add to the Soups, but since I'm doing clear liquid I haven't added it yet. @@elisa5150 - thank you for that Soup idea as well! Hadn't thought of that either!

@@WLSResources/ClothingExch - I did a lot of hard thinking before considering this surgery and I am completely willing to do what it takes. But the fact remains that we are surrounded by commercials and billboards of all the tasty foods we used to eat (even on FB with those stupid recipe videos), so it's a little hard to just ignore. I was only wondering if anyone else experienced the same thing I am and how they coped with it - that's all.

I know. You were clear. I replied anyway because I think a useful answer goes beyond coping suggestions, not all of which work for everyone anyway. Maybe I'm also fortunate that most things advertised never appealed to me. I have my other demons to fight off.

Another suggestion. Be wild and crazy and go for beef bouillon, too.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
