Gastric Sleeve in Juarez MX

Recommended Posts

Hi guys. I recently posted about wanting surgery local here in Dallas, but here recently have been researching Gastric Sleeve in Juarez with Dr Rodriguez at Star Medical Hospital. He looks like a great doctor and I have already called and sent in my medical information. It's much cheaper in MX..which is what sent me that route. Has anyone been a patient of Dr. Rodriguez in Juarez or other doctors there?

I was just sleeved on 11/11 with Dr. Rodriguez at Star Medica. It was the best decision I have ever made. The only downside to being sleeved in MX is the language barrier speaking with the nurses. But if you know Spanish, then you'll be fine. I used a medical company called BeLiteWeight (google it) and Teri was my patient coordinator. I have no complaints with the company or the hospital/doctors. Everything went perfectly.

That makes me even more ready and excited to start this journey. I'm looking at getting it done Jan 12..Just waiting on my medical clearance. I also contacted Belightweight. How soon were you up and feeling "normal"? How many days did you have to stay in Juarez?

I flew into El Paso on Fri morning, the day of my surgery. And left Sunday morning. So two nights. I tried to get up every two hrs or so to walk the halls and I would try and do 3 "laps" each time. By Monday/Tuesday I was back to my full mobile self. A little slower than normal but I was constantly moving. I went back to work Wednesday.

Yes. Everything happened as soon as I got there and got checked into my room. Before surgery, I was researching different companies that provide the surgery all throughout Mexico. But I found BeLiteWeight to be the best, even though it is slightly more expensive than other places in Mexico to get it done.

My surgery went just fine! I have lost a total of 65 pounds so far from my heaviest. 15 were from the pre-op diet and since surgery I've lost 50lbs.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
