Hi, hope you all having a good day.

I'm 6 month post op and have lost 81 pounds, but there is something I have been struggling since the beginning and that is my Water intake. I've never drank water before. I would usually drink juices or soda (2 or 3 coca cola a day, yep guilty as charged). After surgery is been really hard to reach my water goals. I don't like the "taste" and when I drink it it has to be very cold (room temperature water sucks). I often forget that I have to drink it, specially when I'm at work. I mostly prefer drinking natural coconut water or natural juices, but I really want to drink water, because that's best right. I've tried flavoring it, but I haven't found one that suits my taste.

So I was wondering what is working for you out there. I need some advice. Maybe your input can help me with this.

Thanks and I hope you are having a good day.

I mix bipro Protein Water or another brand in Water or ice tea. 50/50. I like herbal tea (orange, peppermint, etc.) hot or cold. Again dilute with plain water if drinking cold if the flavor is too strong. I also use Crystal Light.

Had lapband surgery 10/12/16

I'm terrible at drinking Water. I used to need crystal light or Mio drops in it to drink it. I gradually worked my way down to just needing it ice cold. Some people drink more with a straw... some are better without. Some like it infused with Cucumber or lemon, some with apples or grapes. Do some experimenting and however it goes down... make it happen!

I drank TONS of Water before the surgery...but at almost 5 months out I'm struggling as well. Yesterday I put 5 red rubber bands on my cup & one blue one. Each time I filled the cup up, I moved the blue rubber band over one of the red ones to mark my progress. The cup I use holds 16 oz. ..and I THOUGHT I was drinking a lot more...but according to my bands not so much. :(

Ad for the taste, I'm happy with lemon slices in mine. It's simple but it works to change the taste since I dislike it now.

I used to need Water to be ice cold to drink it, and I also preferred Diet Coke to Water for many years.

Now, I can't get enough water in if it's cold. Cold water stays in the stomach until it is warmed up and moves into the lower intestines. Drinking room temperature or even slightly warm water will pass right through and i skip that gross feeling of being overfull for 30 mins after a few ozs of cold water. I can keep sipping and drinking luke warm water all day, which has helped get my water up over 32oz or so a day.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
