My dietician said just focus on my Protein. I don't have room for anything once I get my protein in at each meal

I was getting 30-40 primary dr wanted it lower since I quit all my diabetic meds. 14 was too low. Hypoglycemic episode. Surgeons nurse said I need at least 30 spread out through the day. Apparently I was insulin resistant before surgery now body processes it. When you eat your body releases insulin to lower what you ate. If you ate no carbs sugar drops too low. At least from the point of a preop insulin resistant now not diabetic person. I had rny think it functions differently too

My two cents..For what ever its worth.

I have learned much. Some by trial and error. For the majority, following your dieticians will give you the best practice for success. Some may need to adjust their diet due to what ever situation comes up. I would never try to trouble shoot my and make up my own diet plan. (that's just me) I choose to trust the professionals.

My diet has changed and evolved since my surgery in June 2014. I am a type one diabetic and a distance runner.

I followed my bariatric dietician for my weight loss. Low carb. Focus was getting hitting my Protein, Water and calorie macros.

I used a sports medicine dietician to fuel my body for a half marathon. Trying to hit my 1800+ calories and maros with a bariatric stomach was a challenge. I carb loaded three days before a long run. The hard part is going back to eating my bariatric plan when I'm not training or running. Carbs still trigger me into hunger and cravings. I have to detox off of them all over again.

I have diabetic dietician. I am a very well controlled type one. ;) I rarely get high blood sugar. I now have more low blood sugars. I have to manage it by ingesting sugar to bring it back up.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
