I'm January 24th. I've not been told to go on a liquid diet. I've to cut down and not tAke fizzy drinks. Everyone here seems to be on a strict pr op diet.

I'm getting mine done in Mexico so I don't have one either. I think it just depends on your surgeon and pre op size. I have decided to do a 2 shake, 1meal diet for the last week and liquids for the last 48 hours before surgery.

I'm not really sure where they put the laparotomy incisions. But the liver doesn't cover the stomach.

Tomorrow is the day! I'm excited and nervous all rolled up into a ball of nervous energy. Waiting for the hospital to call with a report time and working, working, working. Looking forward to the drugs so I don't have to think about this dang job!

For everyone that may have missed the invite in the earlier pages, there is a January 2017 Sleevers Facebook Page. It's a secret group (because some people do not want their friends and family knowing) so if you would like to join you can message me with your email address and I can add you.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
