Good luck Brandi, you on liquid diet?

Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Thank you. My physician only requires liquid diet one day before surgery. They also told me that I shouldn't have any pain. They'll give me a shot that will keep the area numb for several days

Omg you guys are lucky I am on day 7 of 14 day liquid diet

That's must be really hard. I'm glad I only have to do it one day. My surgeon and insurance didn't require me to lose weight before surgery. I just couldn't gain during my 6 months of weight mgmt

I'm required to do an all liquid diet for 7 days prior to surgery. The purpose is to shrink the liver. I'm so not looking forward to it. I have decided to remove all food from my home and donate to a local food bank. I figure it removes any temptation. Lord help me! Lol

That does sound difficult. Good job removing all temptation. That was a smart idea. I am not doing a liquid diet until the day before surgery. I have been on a 1200 cal no carb diet since 12/28. I am starting to get used to it.

No. I won't be at kaiser. I'll be at Fresno heart and surgical. We should chat though. Support will be great for us

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
