Feeling pretty good.

Recommended Posts

So I had my first weigh in since my surgery on the 18th of November and I'm 10 lbs down. I feel good about it. If it had been less I would be discouranged. If it had been more I would be worried. What do u think?

Pre-op: 274

My surgery was in June of this year...at 2 weeks, I was 10-15 lbs down. Everyone loses differently, but it looks like you're right on track. How are you doing with the post-op food plan? As long as you're getting enough Protein, drinking enough Water and getting some kind of exercise, you WILL lose weight, don't worry!

I'm doing well with the food plan. Today I bought 2oz containers with lids and that's helped me really see my portion per sitting. I'm struggling with Protein. I'm only getting one shake in a day and that's about 27g. Also struggling with Water intake. I'm getting about 24-32oz in a day which is about 1/2 of what I should be taking in I believe, but I must say I could be doing worse. I feel good about my ten pounds and all of my efforts. Walking on the other hand.....that's not going so well. I probably could have lost more had I been walking like I was supposed to. That's gonna change.

Seems like you on the right track..I was sleeved on the 9 of November n lost 11 at my post op..I want a slow and steady lost because I definitely can't afford surgery for saggy skin..smh..water/protein but premier shakes are 30 at one sitting so that helps me..always member Protein (meat or egg) first then everything else :D it was hard for me too but everyday gets better..Great job and keep it up..

Portioning your food is a great thing to do, and I use a food scale daily, to weigh any meat or cheese that I eat. If you don't have one, a scale would be a great Christmas gift to yourself :)

Have you started using an unflavored Protein powder yet? Have that to add to refried Beans and Soup has been such a help for me. Even as far along as I am, I still use a scoop of unflavored Protein in my coffee every morning...it's a good way to start the day, as I'm not much of a Breakfast eater. I use GENEPRO, lots of people like Quest and Syntrax. Any of them would be good for you to try. And I still have to work hard to get my Water in and I often fall short, just keep plugging away at that.

Walking has been a game-changer for me...when I hit a little bit of time where I'm stuck at one weight, I can get the scale to move by increasing my exercise for just a few days. That's never really been the case before when I've dieted and lost weight, so it really motivates me to get out and move!

This is a good time to release your expectations about what will discourage you or make you worry. Our bodies are going to do what they need to do in order to heal and adjust. We really need to only focus on giving it what it needs.

There will be times where you don't like what the scale says and times when you will be elated. Try to keep focused on the long term goal. Once I learned to let frustrations go, this journey has been pleasant, even in a stall or if I have gained.

I will most definitely keep plugging away at my Water intake. He doesn't want me to weigh my food, just measure so that's what I'm doing for now. I do have a scale if ever I want to change from measuring to weighing. Eventually I will try that flavorless Protein Powder. Thanks for the helpful suggestions.

That's really good advice. I'm going to try my best. I've always been my worst critic.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
