Would love to have a sleeve buddy

I start my pre-op diet on Monday and for the last couple of days I have been trying to see how long I can make it on liquids. It has not gone well so far. I am going to keep trying, I've got 3 days to get it together. My surgery date is 12/12. I need someone to be accountable to.

I start mine on Monday too. It is going to be hard, but which challenge is not hard. My spouse is totally against my decision of VSG, which means I have way too less moral support too. My doctor said I could keep eating anything that I wanted to until one week before the surgery (26th or 27th Dec), but when I read posts about fatty liver and its effects and all about shrinking the liver and how effective this could be during the surgery, I made up my mind to do the diet anyways.

  • @lisa52: Remember that you are not alone in this journey. Many have struggled through this and have succeeded. Think of the reason why you are doing this surgery, that should motivate you. Indulge yourself in activities you like (reading, listening to music, television, etc.). Yes, your tummy will make rumbling noises and your head will immediately start pouncing too, try ignoring and keep yourself occupied in something you like doing. Keep repeating "You are doing this surgery for yourself, to be healthy and have a healthy lifestyle". All the best with your surgery. I pray to God that he gives you more strength and stamina through the next few days, during and after your surgery.

I was sleeved on 11/28 but I did a two week liquid diet prior . I was on a liquid diet during Thanksgiving . I asked the dr could I lick the turkey lol .

Anyhow you can do it ! I drank premier shakes and Jello saved my life . I put myself on a schedule . I had Decaf tea in am. Because I'm a mom and wife my family still had to eat . So I would make food in the crockpot have my daughter make plates . I would go to my room with my Protein shake and watch the hallmark channel lol . The first two days were rough

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
