Sorry I was trying to type and my phone was going crazy. I have seen so much negativity on lap band on this site. It is pretty discouraging. I felt this was the right choice for me but now I am having doubts with all of the negative post. I hope my band is a success!

Opps hit send by accident.

I meant very effective if used correctly. I have a lap band as well as my husband. We have both been very successful.

Do not be discouraged.

My two good friends and a cousin all had the sleeve two are failing the sleeve. Gaining back weight now.

I and my husband have had the band almost 5 years. Glad I choose this option for the reason of its adjustability.

It comes down to the skill of the surgeon and compliance of the patient in my opinion. I just had lapband surgery in October and I'm happy with my decision.

Had lapband surgery 10/12/16

I'll be celebrating four years banded in mid January. Lost a ton of weight and gained back my life. I know that sometimes the band will not work even if the person is totally compliant but the chances are much greater that if you are compliant, the band will work well for you.

Good luck and don't second guess your choice if it truly is what you think is best for you. I chose the band because it was reversible and less invasive. It was the right choice for me, and hopefully will be the right choice for you.

I understand every letter of your first note.

Pay no attention to the things you've read. Your band is only weeks old with a rosy future as your partner. Your part of the partnership is the lion's share. Look in that direction and learn to read the band. You'll be so much happier than if you spend time worrying about something that hasn't happened.

You're good.

Agree with the others. I presume it is working for you now. So continue to work it. Many people are successful with it. Don't worry about anything that you don't need to worry about. It isn't a productive use of your time and energy.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
