Why?

Why, for Pete's sake, do my students think I want to know about their health issues? I mean, I DO want to know if they are going to be missing class, but I don't want to know every single detail about their diarrhea or how they've been in the hospital because they haven't had a bowel movement in two weeks. Haven't they ever heard the expression "too much information?" I just want to say, "Thanks for telling me. Now, if you'll excuse me, I need to go stab my ears."

Two possible reasons: either they love talking about themselves, people do, you know, or they are lying. :heh: When people are lying they tend to present way too much information in order to support their lies. Because they are young I suspect that they are lying. Young people don't normally like to dwell on bowel movements and crap like that. :) They have probably been off having fun somewhere.

I agree with Green, unless of course they are stuck in Freud's phycological stage that relates to b.m.s..... :) lol.....

Oops! I hadn't thought of that. Good point! LOL

Well, the one that was very detailed about her diarrhea was an older woman, and the one that said she was in the hospital actually was in the hospital (she showed me her discharge papers). I guess the older woman could have been lying, but she didn't strike me as the type, since the older students are usually my best ones.

I guess you got trapped by people who love to talk about themselves. :) Too much information, eh! :rolleyes You have my condolences. :ranger:

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
