Recovery questions!

Recommended Posts

Hello!???? I'm new here, I'm just starting My kaiser options classes the 12 week program. I just have a few questions about recovery pain and abilities after surgery.

So, I have 2 small children, a 1 year old 20 pounds and a soon to be 3 year old 30 pounds. The 1yr. Old likes for me to carry him from time to time and both of them like to jump and climb on me.

How long will i not be able to carry them or have them play rough around me? My husband will be taking some time off to help. I would like to have a good idea of how long I will need him.

I have had surgery before 2 csections..

My question is if anyone with experience could answer.. Was the pain and recovery as far as lifting and mobility afterwards similar? Thanks in advance..

Ask these questions at your class.

Per my post op instructions, I couldn't lift anything over 20 pounds for four weeks post op.

The pain is far less than a c section, an abdominal binder/ compression top helped me a great deal and the recovery is much faster.

I was almost in the same boat as you. I have a 9 month old and an 8 yr old both born through C-section. My Kaiser doctor had me restricted for 3 weeks nothing over 10 pounds. Sadly even with my husband home that was impossible. But I did do my best to have him do most of the lifting (exp: out of the bath tub, out of the crib). It doesn't hurt to lift BUT the restrictions are in place so you do tear and cause a leak. Now I will say the night I was in the hospital I got some sharp gas pains. Lasted about 2 min and way worse than the C-Sections!!! Thank god it was only 2 minutes!! Lol!

We were restricted to no more than a gallon of milk for 6 weeks. That said I have a 15 month old (at the time) and I picked him up pretty regularly, and carefully, from within a week. I couldn't help myself.

I have the restriction nothing over 10 lbs. for six weeks. I have had a speedy recover with almost no pain. I attribute this to the fact that I took my pain meds for as long as necessary and I started diligently walking every day for 3 weeks before surgery. Who knows, maybe I was lucky too. Far less painful to me than a c section. I am back to work today on day 9 at a desk job. Best of luck to you! I do not regret this, not easy but worth my health.

Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
