sleevelessinottawa 8 Posted December 1, 2016 Hi I had a gastric sleeve on September 26. The plan was to have a RNY but due to excessive scar tissue in my stomach from previous surgeries they had to do the sleeve. I was pleased with their decision as I preferred them doing it all laparoscopic then to being cut open. So my issue is since surgery I have been struggling with pain/discomfort and the inability to to eat. My daily intake is at the most 100 calories. They have done a scope which just showed inflammation, CT barium which showed no issues and now 2 barium xrays which I am awaiting results from. I have no energy because I can't eat. When I do it sits in my chest and then crawls up to my throat and then once it starts to digest I get pain in my stomach area. This occurs with any food pureed, regular and/or liquid.< /p> My sick leave case manager has reviewed my case and has taken me off work until at least January 5th and is looking at extending it. I'm so frustrated I wish we could figure out what is happening because I want my life back. it is 9 weeks now since surgery I was certain it would get better. Other people tell me to take sips it will get better and that frustrates me because that's all I've been doing! I try to eat more because I'm so concerned for my health but it just comes back up. Thanks for letting me vent/rant having a hard day!

OutsideMatchInside 10,166 Posted December 1, 2016 Your situation is different than most people but I am going to ask anyway. Do you have this issue with liquids of all Temps? Do warm liquids gondola easier? You can't live off 100 calories a day. Why doesn't your Dr have you in the hospital?
linah 92 Posted December 1, 2016 I think you need to consult a specialist for internal medicine to figure out what went wrong, your situation is not normal and very dangerous. Hope you recover soon. Sent from my SM-G900FD using the BariatricPal App
lmart133 68 Posted December 1, 2016 I had that problem to the point where I couldn't even tolerate any of my vitamins....I had all the tests and just inflammation was found and it did eventually pass. I had to go down to eating 1/4 cup of food in small doses until it finally passed...hope that helps Sent from my SM-N910V using the BariatricPal App
swimbikerun 1,046 Posted December 1, 2016 Having been thru a similar issue (I have gastroparesis), and another couple of issues, I can say that eventually it settles down. I ended up in an emergency admission to the hospital, told I was going to die (organs were starting to go in some way). I was on a PICC line for 5-6 weeks, another surgery a couple months after that. Things that were really bad started to settle down but I still have a lot of issues. Beats being fat. The surgeons' attitude left a lot to be desired, but if you have a supportive doc, it will make a big difference.
lmart133 68 Posted December 1, 2016 When mine was so bad all I could tolerate was Popsicles which as you know has no nutrition whatsoever but that's all I could eat for about 8 to 10 weeks.....I'm good now 7 months post-op..stay strong you can do it and this will pass...
