Dknal2 1,066 Posted November 30, 2016 I know this may sound silly to some. But I love my butt. I know she and I have to part ways after surgery somewhat ???? But I'm trying to keep some of her with me always. Squats improve this chance of having a nice bottom so I'm trying to figure out how long before one can do squats considering squats aren't a strenuous exercise. I know I'm gonna have to ask the doctor but I'm just wondering if my sleeve buddies out there can help me figure this one out.

ProudGrammy 8,322 Posted November 30, 2016 love my butt @@Dknal2 i don't think you can prevent the loss of your rear end after/during weight loss, exercise might help improve it if the loss is gonna happen anyways - make funeral plans no hurry on strenuous/any exercise immediately PO YOUR doc will advice you butttttt not every ones tushy is totally gone post WLS (mine went bye bye LOL) squats "sound" on the harder side right after WLS going down, lots of pressure some people get plastics to help give themselves a "lift" LOL good luck next month kathy

Inner Surfer Girl 12,015 Posted November 30, 2016 Definitely wait until your surgeon clears you. You may also ask your surgeon about modifying your squat in the meantime. Walking is a great exercise until you are cleared for something more intense. Personally, swimming is my exercise of choice. I was cleared to get in the Water about four weeks post-op. Dknal2 1,066 Posted November 30, 2016 Great suggestion, but I don't know how to swim ????????, maybe pool therapy would be good pretend like I'm running in Water. I will certainly ask though. BettyG 75 Posted November 30, 2016 squats aren't a strenuous exercise I almost snorted my Water when I read that, LOL. I beg to differ a bit if I may -- squats are a compound exercise, they use several major muscle groups at once. And even if you do just body weight squats without a barbell, they can still be strenuous depending on your weight and fitness level. For example, a 300-lbs woman doing squats is like a 150-lbs woman doing squats with a 150-lbs barbell. And since every pound of weight is 4 pounds of pressure on your joints...that can be a lot of strain on your knees (again: depending on your current weight). Personally, I was injured really badly a few months ago by a personal trainer who. A Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App
