wow. I like this list much better than mine, and how its detailed about how much to try at first.

I was told not to start Protein until week two. Since I only have a day or two left, i'll wait.

I miss mashed potatoes.

I am so jealous. I'm only allowed broth, jell-o, Popsicles, crystal light and protien powder mixed with Water for the first 3 weeks. My pre-op diet was the same for 2 weeks.

My doctor is very detailed oriented that's for sure. What were you allowed to have during your first week?

My doctor doesn't like to rely on liquid calories. Every program is different but they all get us great results in the long run

Just liquids. I'm starting week 3 tomorrow, and I am finally allowed to start on some softer foods. I have tried mash potatoes, greek yogurt, and chicken, and Beans already. Happy to report it all went well.

I can't have more than one teaspoon at a time though. Or else just like a little baby it gets stuck, and I may have to get it up again. (disgusting)

I hope you are doing well during your week 3. I was able to start week 3 on Friday. I was so sick of mashed potatoes after week 2. I'm also so glad to be off the Protein shakes. I'm able to have 1/2 an egg, up to 1/4 cup of tuna, 1/4 - 1/2 piece of whole wheat toast or 1-2 crackers.

It does, but it's really not horrible. You get nice painkillers if you need them.

Does the surgery hurt?

Thinking abt it but scared

Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

In my opinion, the surgery felt like I had pulled muscles which were gone by day 4 post op. My surgeon doesn't rely on pain meds so I only had iv tylenol before going in and afterwards no pain meds at all. Not that I needed any. Only wish I was allowed something for the sore throat I had from the tube that was put in my throat during surgery. When I got home I only used ice packs for the large incision on my right side. Everyone experiences different pain tolerances though. But I think you should go for the surgery. Healthier lifestyle outweighs the small amount of surgery pain.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
