I had surgery on Nov 14th, revision of sleeve to gastric bypass. I had a couple of complications and ended up staying in the hospital for a week. I am at home recovering and doing fairly well but bored with my diet. The problem is I have broken out in an itchy burning rash on my breast and stomach. I shouldn't have scratched but I did and parts of the rash are very raw. I can't wear a bra and I'm so uncomfortable. Has anyone else had this problem? What do I do???? I'd appreciate any advice. :(

I had my sleeve surgery November 3rd and experienced a rash starting on stomach and spreader to my breasts, arms and legs. I called both my surgeon and family doctor. They put me on an oral medication similar to benadryl but stronger. I also had to have a shot. I am finally feeling like I need to itch all the time. They believe I was allergic. To the glue or pre surgical scrub. Call your doctor's and try and get it checked out. Over the counter therapies did not work for me. Sorry you are going through this

Thank you Victorande, I will call Doctor tomorrow. I have a check up on Wednesday but I need relief sooner.

After my RNY gastric bypass surgery I did break out in a rash on my stomach and breasts. It was so bad that I went to urgent care. The doctor prescribed benadryl and another topical antibiotic. The rash cleared up within a week.

I have a similar rash, I think from wearing the binder 24/7.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
