Post op fleur-de-lis

Recommended Posts

Hi, I am 4 weeks post op fleur-de-lis with muscle repair/corset. I start back to work tomorrow, and I am nervous. I didn't have drainage tubes and the pain hasn't been too bad. I just wondered how others felt after this surgery and how long it took before there were back to "normal". I am missing working out something awfull.

I also wondered if people felt weird twinge or pains every once and a while. I am freaked out because my doctor mentioned popping the internal stitches but he said after 6 weeks it would be okay. I have a friend who is a nurse practitioner and she side at this point it is low that happening. I start week 5 on Tuesday, just impatiently waiting for Christmas when I am 2 months out. Sorry for the ramble, just want to hear other people'so stories about their surgery.

Those twinges that you are likely feeling are the nerves growing back together. I had them consistently in my arms for the first 2.5 months and now, i get them every once in a while. I had my brachioplasty in July.

@@Mccartygirl My TT was wonderful... My pain was minimal and recovery was fast. I had the hip to hip cut with muscle repair. I know what you had was much more difficult.... but i was back at work in 12 days. I do have an office job so i pretty much sat at my desk. I found that i still got tired around 2pm ish.... but for the most part, i had noooo issues.

@@Djmohr Is correct on the twinges you feel.... 4 years later i still have numbness it the incision.

Here are some of my during and after TT pics. http://www.bariatricpal.com/gallery/album/23717-post-tummy-tuck/

You look absolutely fantastic! Your scar healed very well, I hope I am as lucky as you with my TT scars and of course my breast lift scars.

@@Djmohr Thanks girl.... I know you will rock this.... You are a beast.... I found the correct compression garment was key to pain and a good result.

After my dr gave me the go ahead... i started rubbing lotion... it's doesn't matter what kind... moisturizing is another thing i know helped. Now if you have the money... get some http://www.strivectin.com/sd-advanced.html works great on face wrinkles too...

You are three weeks ahead of me! I'm SO glad I took four weeks off of work. I don't know how in the world I could've gone back after only two (I'll be two weeks post op on Monday). I just had my vertical incision just below my belly button start to bleed a little yesterday, I'm still scabbed over mostly everywhere else, I still can't walk quite straight because it is pulling on my internal sutures, and walking is exhausting.

On the positive side, I'm thrilled with my results. Swelling is getting better every day and my boobs look freaking awesome (I had a breast lift too).

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
