Hazel_eyez 173 Posted November 27, 2016 (edited) Hello, I am 2 days post op and it feels like I have a small lump in my throat when I swallow. I am thinking it is from the hiatal hernia repair but I don't know much about how people feel after that surgery. My hernia wasn't very large but when I inhale deeply I can feel some discomfort. Has anyone had both done, did you have similar symptoms, and did you eventually feel normal again? Edited November 27, 2016 by Hazel_eyez
suzzzzz 1,005 Posted November 27, 2016 I had a large hiatal hernia repair with my sleeve. I did not feel like a lump in my throat, but sometimes a light pressure where the esophagus meets the stomach. A lump in the throat would be higher up and usually caused by anxiety or uncertainty. Ask your surgeon about it and hopefully it will go away soon.
Davann 6 Posted November 27, 2016 I had a hernia after my original sleeve and just had it repaired during the revision surgery. I feel much better. Now that it''s gone I can tell how much pain it was causing me!

jess9395 5,449 Posted November 27, 2016 Are you on a proton pump inhibitor like protonix or omeprazole? Tums isn't enough to battle the level of acid most of us have post op. That's what it sounds like to me. I had a hiatal hernia repaired when I had my surgery and needed a PPI for two months post op then I was fine.
